Charbonnage du " Bois du Cazier " à Marcinelle 

Le 8 août 1956, ce charbonnage fut le théâtre de la plus importante catastrophe minière en Belgique causée par un incendie, avec 262 victimes (dont 136 Italiens, 95 Belges, huit Polonais, six Grecs, cinq Allemands, trois Hongrois, trois Algériens, deux Français, un Britannique, un Néerlandais, un Russe et un Ukrainien) sur les 274 hommes présents dans la mine.
